Another design by famed American typographer FW Goudy, Goudy Cursive was originally created in 1916 to accompany a roman typeface that Goudy had designed for the American Type Founders Co.
Essentially an italic design based on his own interpretation of Roman cursive writing, Goudy added a number of swash characters and flourishes to give it a "greater appearance of freedom and informality, and also (to) give it something of the quality of hand-lettering."
The Grunge Papers' holdings of Goudy Cursive were cast by Ed Rayher's "Swamp Press" in Northfield, MA, in the US.
Please note that the printing in the image above is larger than "life size". Between that and the less-than-ideal resolution of the digital photo, the imprint of the type appears larger and rougher than it actually is.
