Designed in 1927 by the great American typographer FW Goudy and first cast at that time by the Monotype Company, Deepdene and its companion face, Deepdene Italic, are The Grunge Papers' "house" fonts.
The Grunge Papers' collection of Deepdene started with two trays of used type (our very first two trays of type, in fact) from Don Black Linecasting in Toronto. A good deal of new type has since been added, most cast by M & H Type of San Francisco, some (the small caps) cast by Ed Rayher's Swamp Press in Northfield, MA.
Please note that the printing in the image above is somewhat larger than "life size". Between that and the less-than-ideal resolution of the digital photo, the imprint of the type appears larger and rougher than it actually is.
