Early Printed Books - An excellent website maintained by Sian Echard listing many of the online archives of digitized early printed books. Also, check out her "Medieval Manuscripts on the Web" for books from before the age of printing.

Heavenly Monkey - Excellent Vancouver based letterpress printing & bookbinding outfit that puts out really interesting stuff.

Mother Tongue Publishing - (formerly Mother Tongue Press) A fine literary press based on Salt Spring Island in BC that specializes in the letterpress printing and publishing of excellent chapbooks & broadsides.

Typoretum - A blog about typography, letterpress & printing history from the UK.

I Love Typography - A site devote to fonts, typefaces and all things typographical.

The Vanderblog - Blog for and about the much-loved Vandercook brand proofing presses.

Ducks in a Row Press - Blog for Nancy Trottier's calligraphy studio and press from Deep River, ON. Nancy is also a member of the Ottawa Press Gang.

Briar Press - Briar Press' very useful website for the letterpress community. "Proudly introducing the bleeding edge world of personalized desktop publishing (circa 1820)", as they say.

We Do Printing - Ian Bristow and Jenn Kibbee have a honking big Heidelberg windmill press in their printshop in Cornwall, ON. They are also members of the Ottawa Press Gang, and have lots of images up on their Flickr site here.

The Toronto Centre for the Book - Run through the University of Toronto's "Book History and Print Culture" program, the TCB runs a annual lecture series as a forum for the "investigation of manuscript, print and digital text cultures," as their website says.

Lindenlea Paper - Nancy French is an Ottawa-based papermaker and paper marbler who occasionally teaches at the Ottawa School of Art.

Artengine - An artist-run site for visual & media artists. The Artengine Artlist is a great source of info for the Ottawa area art scene.

Michèle Provost - Michèle is an amazing Gatineau, QC based visual and textual artist whose works have shown from Vancouver to Halifax to Sardinia.

Holly Dean - Holly Dean is an excellent Merrickville-based artist, book artist and calligrapher and a member of the Ottawa Press Gang. She also has a blog  here.

Blink Gallery - Very cool little collective gallery in Ottawa, located in the shadow of the National Gallery.

Enriched Bread Artists - A non-profit collective studio/space of two dozen artists in Ottawa.

National Gallery of Canada - Very nice, for a large institution. Located across the street from the Blink Gallery.

Carleton University Art Gallery - Excellent gallery at one of Ottawa's universities.

Mississippi Valley Textile Museum - Lovely museum located in Almonte, Ontario, with excellent exhibitions of fabric and textile art.

UBUWeb - An excellent website devoted to sound, visual and concrete poetry and art. Has an extensive archive of author's and artist's works.

Expozine - Expozine is a very big small press fair held annually in Montreal.

Sawdust Reading Series - A new poetry reading series in Ottawa that's doing a very good job of bringing in excellent out-of-town readers and highlighting our local talent.


John W. MacDonald - Weblog by photographer John MacDonald, who spends rather a lot of time going to literary events in Ottawa.

CKCU FM - Website for CKCU, the Carleton University-based community radio station that has been providing an alternative voice on Ottawa's airwaves for more than 35 years. Check out their "Literary Landscape" program at 6:30 pm on Thursday nights.

Open Culture - A website dedicated to collecting the best free cultural and educational media on the 'net.

Louisiana Channel - A website based at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark, with video talks, lectures and conversations with a wide range of artists.
